Hello! I'm Naphta Derolus and I'm a technician in Computer Networking. I studied at Canado Technique and just graduated.  I do not say that things were easy because sometimes things were hard for me, but I've done my best to succeed with all my studies. My goals after graduation are to to find a job to help my family and to help people in Haiti.

In October, I went to the retreat with all students of the Bridge Scholarship. It was fun and very productive for me. I got to speak to the group and help the new students understand the program. I met the new students that are entering the program and I shared my experience with them. I also gave them advice on how they should behave in the program and how to be successful.

I also learned a lot at the retreat about leadership, God’s love, the importance of service and how I should let the Holy Spirit work in my life.  I was happy to meet Phillip Fields, our speaker. He did a great work teaching us and I hope God will bless him and his family.

After the retreat, I joined other students and Ludwig, our Student Mentor, to travel to Mirebalais (the countryside in Haiti) to share our education and knowledge with kids and young adults in his community. We had a good time with them and spending time with Ludwig’s family.

I thank the Bridge Scholarship for their work in Haiti. I pray that God will send more donors for them so that they can do more in helping young adults in Haiti.

I thank God for what he's been doing in my life and for the gift of a college scholarship.

Hello,

May this find you well!

It is an honor for me to be the first student to write a blog. My blog is about the importance of the Bridge Scholarship's work here in Haiti, and how I am taking advantage of some classes that I am currently taking.

Nelson Mandela stated: “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” The Bridge Scholarship Program is doing a great work in Haiti by giving young adults the opportunity to further their education which will help them change their life situations. There is a popular saying: “the children of today will be the adults of tomorrow." It is also commonly said that “young adults are the future of their country as they are called to be businessmen, pastors, presidents, prime ministers, and so on.” The Bridge Scholarship Program believes in a better Haiti by helping young adults with their education. I am blessed to be a recipient of this fabulous scholarship, and I know that through my education, I will accomplish great things.

The main subjects of studies that I am currently taking are: electricity, electronics and mechanics. The electricity class lasts 120 hours, and after successfully passing the class, I will be able to fix outlets and so on. I am very excited to learn new things. The Bridge Scholarship Program is also working on our personalities by giving us guidance that will serve us in our professional careers.

Through the help of the Bridge Scholarship Program in the young adults' higher education, I believe in a better Haiti. I am very glad to be a part of this great family!  I love the Bridge Scholarship Program, and I love Haiti!

Thank you!

Rodney Celestin
