Davidson 

Part 1

My name is Jules Davidson and I am 28 years old. I graduated from Technical school in which I studied Telecommunications. I am the newly appointed Program Manager for the Bridge Scholarship in Haiti.

I love God and I trust God’s words!!!  I like music but I don’t have any preferences because I listen to all kind of music. I like reading so much and I like people. I love Haiti and one thing that I don’t like to do is to talk about myself!

I was born, studied and grew up in Port-au-Prince. My parents are from two different countrysides in Haiti which are named Jacmel and Bainet. I had three brothers and one sister and I am the youngest son in my family. Unfortunately during the earthquake I lost two of my three brothers and six other members of my family. The earthquake of January 12th, 2010 was a sad period of my life for my family as it was for many other Haitian families. I thank Philippe Field, a counselor from the US,  because he came to talk with us a few months after the earthquake. Because of his help, I found the joy of my life and my life took another direction. Eight years after, I can say that God is faithful and HE is good all the time.

During my childhood I didn’t have any chance to receive my Mom’s love because she was sick with breast cancer. She was hospitalized throughout my childhood until her death. She passed away when I was three years old.  You can automatically understand that I didn’t really know my mother but I do know that she was a good mom for my older brothers and sister and a beautiful lady. I love you mom (Adeline Dorisca).

I saw my father for the second time when I was 11 years old. He was never here and never provided  for his family. He has more than eleven children that he never takes care of. He doesn’t care about any of them. So when I got older and questioned what it means to be a father,  I have always asked myself what kind of father is my father???

After my mom’s death my sister became my mother but my veritable mother was my godmother Sonia Napoleon, the best mother ever..( I love you Sonia).  In June 1997, at the age of 7, I was placed in an orphanage, because my godmother didn’t have enough money to keep supporting me and she had three children already.  She was divorced from the father of her children so it was hard for her I think. I can’t say much more because I was a child. But I do remember that my godmother visited me and sent me packages of food. I lost touch with my sister during this time since she moved to the Dominican Republic but she did come to visit me too.

I'm Medelyne Desulme and I’m studying Management at Providence University and I'm in my first year. I'm from Thomonde, a countryside of Haiti, but I live in Port-au-Prince now. I'm 22 years old. This scholarship means a lot for me because it gives me the opportunity to study and become an important person in life and in my community. It is so hard to go to college in Haiti. Because of this education, I will able to help others who are in need. I made this choice to study business because I think it's the best profession to help me make my dreams come true.

After studying, my dreams are to create my own business because I want to take care of the children and to support them in everything. I wish that I could provide them the same education that I have been offered from the Bridge Scholarship. I want to teach them leadership and to be useful in our country. The most important thing for me is to help and serve others as I have learned in our many leadership trainings that Bridge provides. In my opinion I can say that Bridge Scholarship is doing a good work here by giving to a lot of Haitian students the opportunity to improve themselves and learn what we can do with our potential and how to make a difference in our country and then worldwide.

I'm so happy to be a member of this scholarship family and a student the Bridge Scholarship program. I really appreciate what they do in Haiti and what they already did for me during a short period. I never expected that before because it is more than a scholarship but it’s all about the creation of new Haitian leaders.
