Summer Greetings!

It’s getting to be a little longer between emails these days and I apologize. With the demands of our growing program and just Rhodena and me operating the US end, we just don’t have the time to write to you all as often as we would like. It is my great hope that you follow our social media (Facebook and Instagram) as we work hard to show off the accomplishments of the Bridge Scholarship program! As always, I’d be happy to talk with any of you if you have questions.  For now I’d like to highlight our victories and what’s ahead of us and ask again for your investment. This year we’re expanding the program in faith and hope you will continue to invest in the Bridge Scholarship mission

  • We’ve decided to increase the number of students served from 15 to 21 this year! These students are equally divided from the orphanage Celiane runs and the Restavec Freedom program.

NEW 2018 STUDENTS

  • We’re including 2 new schools this year! One student we interviewed appears to be an extremely talented tailor! We decided on the spot to send him to tailoring school! We have also decided to enroll in another Christian University called Inuka University.

  • Our graduates are busy! Right now we have

  • 1 student pursuing a specialization in their trade school degree (Philippe)
  • 1 completing a fantastic internship with Anseye pou Ayiti and looking for full time work (Naptha)
  • 1 employed as a technician at Brana (Rodney)
  • 1 employed as a technician at Kolos (Samuel)
  • 1 employed as a technician at Prefab (Vladimir)
  • 1 starting his own business (Pierre Marie)
  • 1 graduating from Canado this summer (Roody)

I hope you are as excited about those results as we are!

As we turn our attention towards our fall semester with now 21 students we are looking for more student housing and possibly hiring an assistant to help our Haitian staff. All of this means a rapidly growing budget.

Will you please join us in investing in the future of these Haitian students? We’re expanding in faith that you’re with us and are so grateful for your support.

Here’s a  link where it’s easy to donate!

The students you are investing in send their Thanks!!

May 2018 was our spring retreat.  I had a great time with my friends and staff of the program! I learned a lot in this retreat and it was the best retreat ever with this group.  I’ll talk a little more about why it was so great.

This retreat was wonderful. It was in a beautiful place with nice people and the food was so great. My favorite thing in the retreat was a drawing game that we played together to help us learn how to communicate with each other and pay attention to what others are saying. I learned how to listen and pay attention to what others are saying. I spent some good time with the staff and the students too. I learned a lot of things such as how to work in a team.  By working as team we can succeed in everything we do and we can make progress when we work together.

I learned how to manage with stress in school, before I did not know how to handle the pressures, especially the ones that I’m facing at school. Stress can destroy us if we don’t know how to manage this pressure.  I learned a lot about how I can discover stress and how to help others who are crumbling in stress. But now I know how to fight it.

We played a game on the beach to and we visited an artisan market where they sell products made in Haiti.  We also watched a movie which talked about forgiveness. That was my favorite movie because I really know it’s hard to forgive others.

The one thing that I’ll never forget at the retreat is when the people taught us their dreams for Haiti and how they want to help Haiti. I could see that Haiti can change with the help of all these young people. I could see success around us and happiness for Haiti because of this potential that they have. So in this retreat I learned so much I can’t even tell you all of it. The most important thing is that the retreat was my best moment ever.  I liked everything!
