Pierre Mary just graduated from Canado Technique and participated in our first student retreat as a speaker! He has been very busy looking for his first job and also volunteering on the Operation Mobilization ship, Logos Hope. In this blog post he shares a bit about himself and his time on the ship…

Greetings!

I am Pierre Mary.  I am 24 years old. I am an electromechanic. Since I was young I have always wanted to study engineering. I like mathematics, physics and chemistry. I started studying engineering but I didn't finish it and continued my education at Canado Technique in Electromechanics.

I was born into a family that has six children and I am the youngest. My oldest brother died when I was 5 years old. I have a sister and three brothers.

I studied Electromechanics at canado technique.  Regarding the classes I liked all the subjects. I enjoyed the electrical class, functioning of engines, maintenance of  generators, automechanics, installation of inverters, PV and generator class but i like the PLC class more. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a class where I learned how to write a program and how to speak to a PLC. I learned ladder, FBD (Function Bloc Diagram)  as programs etc... it was great class and I enjoyed it a lot, and i learned how you can fix , recording PLC systems and do maintenance on a PLC. I had two great teachers who made this class so good. One of them is the director of my section at school. They both are excellent in what they teach us.

My experience with the Operation Mobilization (OM) ship Logos Hope was great!  The crew members had a bad image about Haiti but the volunteers changed that. Together we helped them to have another image of Haiti and now they have seen the great side of Haiti! I worked in the book fair as a volunteer.  Every morning we had training before we started to work. I enjoyed helping people who came on the ship.  I was exhausted but it was great to communicate and learn from other people and to share with other people. Often we switched positions to another place to volunteer and that was awesome. I liked to work on the information desk, book fair cash desk and customer service.

I’m so grateful for this experience on this incredible ship!
